Originating in St. Imier in the Jura Mountains of Switzerland, Breitling was founded in 1884 by Léon Breitling. Coming from humble beginnings, Breitling quickly earned its impressive reputation by focusing on designing and creating chronographs at a time when they were increasingly in demand for industrial, scientific, sports, and military purposes. Breitling has also been recognized as the “official supplier to world aviation” for its significant contributions in providing first-rate pilot watches. Passed on through generations of the Breitling family until 1979 when they sold the company, the brand has continued to flourish and make its mark in watchmaking history with some remarkable milestones – such as its contribution in creating the world’s very first automatic chronograph movement, as well as the release of Breitling’s own signature chronograph watch, the Chronomat – which is still one of Breitling’s most widely recognized and sought-after timepieces to this day.
The release of Breitling’s own signature chronograph watch, the Chronomat, is still one of Breitling’s most widely recognized and sought-after timepieces to this day. Aside from the Chronomat, Breitling is known for its various other collections of exquisite timepieces that fit every genre and usage and each have unique storylines of their own. The Professional, Navitimer, Superocean, Superocean Heritage, Avenger, Premier, Aviator 8, and Chronomat watch collections make up the Breitling brand.
