Rolex NFC Warranty Card: How It Works and What to Expect

In our previous blog post, we introduced the new features added to the Rolex warranty card launched in 2020, particularly the NFC chip that can interact with mobile devices. In this article, we take a closer look at how NFC technology works and explain which smartphones can scan Rolex NFC cards.
What is NFC?
NFC (Near Field Communication) technology is the “tap-to-pay” technology used by Apple Pay and Google Pay. The Rolex warranty card contains an NFC chip. When scanned with an NFC-compatible device, it connects to Rolex's secure database. This chip does not display personal information on the user's phone; it only redirects to the official Rolex website. This allows Rolex and authorized service centers to access warranty status and detailed watch information while keeping confidential data secure.
How to Scan a Rolex NFC Warranty Card
Scanning is simple and works like tapping your phone for mobile payments:
1. Unlock your phone
2. Hold your phone close to the warranty card
3. A message will appear, such as “NFC tag detected”
4. After clicking the message, your smartphone will open the official Rolex website via a browser such as Safari, Chrome, etc. The link may initially display as gcard.rolex.com, which is the secure URL generated when scanning the card. It will automatically redirect to rolex.com shortly thereafter.
